There was a plank across the stream. When the dog came to the middle of the plank, he looked down into the water. There he saw his own shadow. He thought that it was another dog with a bigger piece of meat in his mouth. I must have that piece also,” thought the greedy dog. So thinking, the dog barked and jumped into the water. His own piece of meat at once fell down into the water and was lost. He said, „Our friend, the deer is in the hunter‟s net.‟ „What shall we do‟? said the mouse and the turtle. „I will take mouse on my back,‟ said the crow. „He will bite through the net and set the deer free.‟ „Yes,‟ said the mouse. At last he saw a grapevine on which fine bunches of ripe, black grapes were hanging. The Fox stood up but the grapes were too high above his head. He made several jumps upwards; still the grapes were beyond his reach. When he could not get at them by any means, he turned away. At last they entered a kitchen of a house. They stole a piece of cake and ran off. Then they came to a bush and sat under a tree. One of them divided the cake into two pieces. But the pieces were not equal. First part was larger than the other. Each of the cats wanted to have the bigger piece. So they began to quarrel. A monkey saw the cats. He came to them and said, “Why are you quarreling?” “He wants to have the bigger piece,” said one of them. If you allow me, I shall act as a judge and make the two pieces equal,” said the monkey. The cats agreed. Then the monkey brought a scale. He weighed the two pieces. One piece was heavier than the other. So he took a bite out of the bigger piece. Now the other piece became heavier. So he bites off some of that. Thus the monkey went on eating the two pieces to make them equal

One day the old man called his sons. He brought a bundle of sticks. He asked his sons to break the bundle one by one. Each of the sons tried to break the bundle, but none succeeded. Then the old man asked his eldest son to untie the bundle. This was done. He then gave one stick to each of his sons and said, ‘Try to break your sticks.’ Now they broke their sticks very easily. The old man said, “My sons, you have seen that you cannot break the sticks when they are tied together. But you can break them when they are separated. This is the strength of unity. If you are united, nobody will be able to do any harm. So do not quarrel among yourselves and try to live in peace. The Ant and the Dove

The force of the stream was sweeping the ant away. The ant feared of being drowned. However, a dove saw the ant and dropped a leaf into the water. The ant climbed on to it and floated safely back to shore. Soon afterwards, a hunter came, saw the dove and aimed his arrows at it. The ant noticed this and stung (bite) the hunter in the foot. The man was startled and made a low sound. The dove heard the sound and flew away from the tree. Lesson Learnt:  by  Dedoyin One good turn deserves another. The act of good done today is an investment for tomorrow. On the other hand, it is true that the good you do today sometimes may be forgotten tomorrow. Do Good Anyway, wouldn’t you. The Shepherd and the Wolf

Every day he sat under a large tree, while his flock of sheep grazed on the grass of the meadow. His time hardly passed. The shepherd-boy felt bored and wanted some excitement in his life. So, to get some fun, one day he gave a loud shout! ‘Help! Help! A tiger is here!!!’ The villagers listened to his voice and came running with weapons. But they didn’t saw any tiger in the field. The large flock of sheep were grazing quietly. The shepherd-boy began to laugh in amusement and told the villagers that it was a big joke. The villagers were angry and scolded him for raising a false alarm. The shepherd-boy was warned not to repeat this mistake. But the boy did not realize his mistake.
